BROOKLYN, N.Y. - A total of 29 LIU Brooklyn student-athletes will be inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society, it was announced on Friday. Twelve sport programs are represented in the group, including six student-athletes from the men's soccer team.
Representatives from the baseball, men's golf, women's basketball, women's bowling, women's golf, women's lacrosse, softball, women's soccer, women's tennis, women's track & field and volleyball teams also comprise the group.
In order to be eligible for induction into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society, a student-athlete must have earned at least one letter in a varsity sport, be a junior academically and maintain a minimum of a 3.4 cumulative grade point average. An individual can only be inducted once.
Chi Alpha Sigma's mission is to encourage and reward high academic scholarship of college athletes at four-year accredited colleges and universities; to recognize outstanding academic achievement by intercollegiate varsity letter winners; to encourage good citizenship, moral character, and friendship among the high academic achievers in college athletics; to recognize and honor the individual athlete, his/her team, sport, athletic department, and college or university; and to mentor and to provide leadership to other athletes.
