BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn women's cross country team was picked to finish 10th in the Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, it was announced Friday.
Last year's NEC champion, Sacred Heart, was picked to win again in 2014 and earned seven first-place votes. Bryant was picked second with one first-place vote, while Central Connecticut and Mount St. Mary's tied for third.
The Blackbirds return to the cross country course after a brief hiatus. First-year head coach Janine Davis will lead a squad of eight, including senior Katrina Anderson. Anderson was a three-time NEC champion on the track in the 2013-14 season and is the LIU record-holder in the indoor and outdoor 800-meter run, as well as the outdoor 1,500-meter run.
LIU Brooklyn begins the 2014 season on Aug. 29 at the Lehigh Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
