BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The LIU Brooklyn women's cross country team opened its season at the Lehigh Invitational at the Goodman Campus course on Friday evening. Three freshmen represented the Blackbirds at the nine-team meet.
Esther Jean-Louis paced the LIU contingent, placing 48th overall in a field of 106 with a time of 24:57.68 to set the new top time in the 6K for the program.
Adjovi Simpini and Kara Dixon finished 78th and 80th, respectively. Simpini clocked in at 27:09.99 to start the season, while Dixon was close behind in 27.17.85.
West Virginia won the team title, followed by Lehigh and Delaware in second and third place. Lehigh's Elizabeth Weiler was the top individual finisher in 21:35.58.
The Blackbirds are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 6 at the Fordham Fiasco at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
