BROOKLYN, N.Y. – With only two nonconference games remaining, the LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team heads to Washington, D.C. on Friday afternoon to take on Howard at 3:00 p.m. at Greene Stadium.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blackbirds fell to then-No. 18 George Mason, 1-0, on Alumni Day last Sunday. Despite 18 shots from the Patriots, they would only score once in the 14th minute. In his second start, freshman goalkeeper Cole Palmer made seven saves, including four in the second half.
ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDS
Senior forward Brice Merwine is still tied for fourth in the nation with six total goals scored this season and is tied sixth with 0.86 goals per game. These statistics tie him for first in the Northeast Conference with Robert Morris's Neco Brett.
As a team, LIU is ranked fourth in goals, fifth in points and goals per game and third in saves in the conference. The Blackbirds average 1.14 goals per game and .483 shot on goal percentage, with 8.6 shots per game.
ABOUT THE BISON
Howard is 0-9-1 on the season and most recently fell 4-0 to Liberty after tying 2-2 with Virginia Military Institute. The team has a .050 shot percentage and averages 6.0 shots per game, compared to 18.0 by opponents. Three different players have scored Howard's three goals. Goalkeeper Eric Hamilton averages 3.42 goals against with a .643 save percentage.

The Blackbirds are 4-2-1 all-time against Howard, in a series that dates back to 1967. LIU Brooklyn most recently defeated the Bison at LIU Field in 2013, 2-1.
