BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team hosted its annual Alumni Day this past Sunday. Former LIU Brooklyn head coach Arnold Ramirez and recent LIU Brooklyn Hall of Fame inductee Rosario Composto looked back on their experiences with the LIU Brooklyn program.
Ramirez is the winningest coach in LIU Brooklyn history. He coached the program from 1979 to 1998, and led the Blackbirds to four NCAA tournament appearances, two New York Region Championships, and a pair of ECAC Tournament showings. In addition, he was responsible for four Metropolitan Conference titles (1979-1982) and the 1989 and 1997 Northeast Conference crowns. He was inducted into the LIU Brooklyn Hall of Fame in 2006.
Composto was a member of the 2014 Hall of Fame Class. During his time as a Blackbird, he led LIU to a 37-4-5 record and three straight appearances in the NCAA Tournament during his three varsity seasons. During his senior season, Composto earned honorable mention All-America honors and was a first-round draft pick of the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League. He was also a member of the 1974 United States Olympic Soccer Team.
