NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The LIU Brooklyn women's cross country team placed 14th at the 5K Ted Owen Invitational on Saturday afternoon, with all six Blackbird competitors recording their best times of the season.
The meet was held at Stanley Quarter Park, in New Britain, Conn., the location of the upcoming Northeast Conference Championship later this fall. Boston University won the team title, followed by Sacred Heart and Saint Francis U.
Freshman Esther Jean-Louis placed 42nd out of 148 competitors. She ran to her best time of the season by nearly a minute and a half, finishing in 19:48.18.
Freshmen Adjovi Simpini and Kara Dixon also recorded personal bests on Friday. Simpini clocked in at 22:01.28, while Dixon finished in 23:00.32. They placed 99th and 116th, respectively.
Coming in fourth for the Blackbirds was Nichole Candeleria, in 25.20.53. Alea Stevens crossed the line in 26.15.30, and Brittany McClain recorded a time of 27:12.14.
The Blackbirds return to the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course at Lehigh University on Saturday, Oct. 4 in Bethlehem, Pa.
