BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team heads to LIU Field Sunday for the first of three straight home games. The Blackbirds face Saint Joseph's on Sept. 7 at 1:00 p.m. Live stats and live video are available above.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blackbirds opened the season with matches against two of the top teams in the country. No. 14 UMBC defeated LIU, 4-0 last Friday. LIU then faced Delaware, who is receiving votes in the national polls. The Blue Hens got the 2-0 win, with both goals coming on penalty kicks. The Blackbirds kept Delaware to only six shots in the second half, compared to 11 in the first.
ABOUT LIU BROOKLYN
Senior forward Brice Merwine leads the Blackbirds with three shots on the year, including two shots on goal, while junior midfielder Tanner Sica has taken two shots, and one on goal. Sophomore Raffi Gregorian and seniors David Nuernberg and Tyler Draovitch also have posted a shot.Goalkeeper Logan Keys has made 13 saves to start out the year.
ABOUT THE HAWKS
Saint Joseph's is currently 1-1 on the season, and plays again tonight against Rider. The Hawks defeated NEC member St. Francis Brooklyn, 1-0, to start the season, but fell to Army by the same score three days later. Senior forward Mike Glazer has scored the only goal so far for the Hawks, while junior forward Emmanuel Temeh has taken three shots. Saint Joseph's has not won its first road game of the season since 2002.
