BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The LIU Brooklyn women's cross country team continues its 2015 season on Friday at the Paul Short Run, hosted by Lehigh. The Blackbirds participated in the brown run and finished 45th, with sophomore Esther Jean Louis leading the way.
Jean Louis closed the 6K race in 23:31, averaging 6:18 per mile to finish in the top 200 out of 387 competitors. Classmates Adjovi Simpini and Kharyn Ethridge were the second- and third-fastest LIU runners, completing the run in 25:07 and 25:49, respectively.
Freshmen Shayla Wigand and Zaahira Deboise were the final two Blackbirds and ran to times of 28:56 and 29:23. Saint Joseph's won the team title while Swarthmore's Katie McMenamin earned the individual victory with a time of 21:23.
LIU Brooklyn returns to action on Friday, Oct. 9 at the Metropolitan Championships at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
