BROOKLYN, N.Y. – LIU Brooklyn's Esther Jean-Louis will head to Boston, Mass. this Friday, Nov. 13 to represent the women's cross country team at the 2015 NCAA Northeast Regional meet.
Jean-Louis has led the Blackbirds this season in a successful sophomore year campaign. The Elizabeth, N.J. native set a new 5K school record time back in mid-October at the University of Albany Inviational. The previous record time of 19:11.90, set by Margaret Nolan (1986-89), was broken when Jean-Louis finished the 5K race with a time of 19:11.70, and finished 40th overall in a 186-competitor field.
LIU is coming off of a NEC Championship showing just two weeks ago in Rhode Island. Jean-Louis led the squad in the 5K, finished 27th out of 78 competitors, and crossed the line at 19:12.7.
Jean-Louis finished first on the Blackbirds roster in three other meets this season including the Nassaney Invitational, Lehigh Paul Short Run, and the Metropolitan Championships.
The Northeast Regional meet will be held at Franklin Park, hosted by Boston College. Start time for the 6K race is at 12 p.m.
