BROOKLYN, N.Y. – After clinching the Northeast Conference regular-season championship and moving its winning streak to eight straight games, the LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team has moved up to seventh in the latest Northeast region poll, as announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Blackbirds are coming off of a big weekend that included victories over Sacred Heart and Georgia Southern.
In last Friday's matchup versus Sacred Heart, the Blackbirds picked up their seventh straight victory, ran its unbeaten streak to eight and earned its first regular season Northeast Conference title since 2002 with a 3-1 win over Sacred Heart on Friday. The victory ran the Blackbirds' conference record to a perfect 6-0-0, marking the first time the team has accomplished the feat since 1992. With the win, LIU Brooklyn clinched the right to host the upcoming Northeast Conference Tournament at LIU Field on Nov. 13-15.
Last Sunday, the Blackbirds celebrated their seniors and won their eighth consecutive match with a shutout victory over Georgia Southern, 3-0, at LIU Field. The eight-match winning streak is currently the longest streak in NCAA Division I men's soccer and also marked the 10th win of the year for LIU Brooklyn, the first time since 2002 that the feat has been achieved.

LIU is set to host the "Battle of Brooklyn" next Sunday, Nov. 8, when the Blackbirds face off against the Terriers of St. Francis Brooklyn at 1:00 p.m.
