Day Two Results
HOUSTON, Texas - Three Blackbird bowlers finished in the top 15 out of 66 individuals at the SHSU Kat Klash. Competition on Saturday featured five traditional matches in which Alyssa Balicki, Natasha Bidwell and Madison Lukosius led the way for LIU.
Balicki, averaged a 207.4 on the day after knocking down a total of 1,037 pins over the course of five matches. The sophomore's pinfall was good for seventh place out of 66 bowlers at the event.
Fourth-year Blackbird, Bidwell, averaged a 201.8 and knocked down a total of 1,009 pins. The pinfall gave Bidwell the 12th individual seed on the day.
Lukosius, in her junior year, averaged a 195.4 on the day. After posting a total pinfall of 977, Lukosius finished 15th individually.
The No. 14 Blackbirds went 2-3 after five traditional matches on Saturday. Also earning two wins on Friday after six baker matches, the Blackbirds hold onto a 4-7 record on the weekend.
LIU's two wins on Saturday came over both Tigers' teams at the Kat Klash, Texas Southern and Jackson State. The Blackbirds defeated Texas Southern with a score of 975 to 816, and Jackson State, 983 to 857.
In the first, and then the final match-up of the day, the Blackbirds faced No. 9 Central Missouri. LIU fell to Central Missouri in two close matches, with final scores of 926 to 937, and 950 to 969. The Blackbirds third loss came against the host, No. 4 Sam Houston State, 982 to 1015.
LIU will take part in the final day of the SHSU Kat Klash on Sunday, Dec. 6. The Blackbirds head into the best-of seven baker matches as a fifth-seed. Competition will begin at 8:30am.
