Final Results - 6th Annual Bill Ward Meet
SOUTH HUNTINGTON, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn track and field teams collected five first place finishes and boast 16 top-5 runs at the 6th Annual St. John's University Bill Ward Invitational hosted by St. John's University at Saint Anthony's High School on Tuesday afternoon.
The underclassmen kicked off the meet for the Blackbirds with three solid runs in the 60-meter dash. Freshman Caleb Williams posted a personal best in the final heat, running 6.91 to claim first, followed by sophomores Ernest Agyeman in 4th and Roderick Moodie closely behind in 6th with times of 7.06 and 7.15, respectively.
The men and women's teams had strong mile times. Senior Nicholas Ruiz finished in first for the event at 4:47.73 for the men. Sophomores Esther Jean-Louis and Kharyn Ethridge were seconds apart, claiming the second and third spots for the mile with times of 5:28.99 and 5:32.30.
LIU Brooklyn dominated the 500-meter runs, the women with three top-5 finishes, while the men posted four. Junior Casandra Jones led the women in this event, earning silver at 1:14.85. Freshman Cayla Coleman and senior Stephanie Aidoo were the third and fifth finishers in the event, just tenths of a second apart.
The men swept the podium in the 500-meter run. Senior Alistair McLean in first with a time of 1:06.05, followed by fellow classmate Mica-Jonathan Petit Homme crossing the finish line at 1:06.15 to come in second and in third is freshman Deshawne Bunsion at 1:06.79. Behind Bunsion in fourth place is junior Karl Cajuste coming in at 1:07.81.
Jean-Louis and Ethridge took the gold and silver for the women in the 800-meter run. Jean-Louis posting a time of 2:23.90 and Ethridge came in at 2:24.75. Seniors Tyler Cue, Tyquan Dukes, Kyle Bennet and junior Delano Davis pulled off a first-place finish in the men's 4x400 relay for the Blackbirds to close out the meet.

This Friday, Dec. 11, LIU track and field heads back to Staten Island, where it will compete at the Wagner College Shoot-Out.
