2015 NSCAA NCAA Division I All-Northeast Region Teams
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Senior Tanner Sica and freshman Rasmus Hansen were recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their outstanding performances this past season. The pair of Blackbirds were named to the 2015 NSCAA NCAA Division I Men's All-Northeast Region Second and Third teams, respectively.
Hansen was named to the All-Northeast Region Second Team, to add to his already accomplished soccer resume. As a freshman, the Greve, Denmark native paced the Blackbirds in scoring with eight goals and accumulated 20 points, while recording four assists over the course of the 2015 season. He quickly became an integral part of the LIU offense, helping the Blackbirds to their first NEC regular season and tournament championships, thereby earning a trip to the Big Dance for the first time since the 2004 season. Hansen earned NEC Rookie of the Year honors after finishing the regular season ranked third on the circuit with seven goals and 18 points. An NEC Rookie of the Week honoree back in September, the freshman also scored two game-winning goals for the Blackbirds.
Named to the All-Northeast Region Third Team by the NSCAA, Sica hung up his LIU Brooklyn jersey with a string of accolades and accomplishments to take with him. Sica collected his third consecutive All-NEC honor, and made his initial first team appearance. The Toms River, N.J. product continued to be an offensive and defensive force while captaining arguably one of the most successful Blackbird men's soccer teams in recent years. The senior defender tallied five points while helping the LIU Brooklyn defense surrender just three goals in seven conference games, tied for first in the NEC.
