With five event wins on the second day of the Northeast Conference Indoor Championships, the LIU Brooklyn women's track and field team finished in the runner-up spot for the second consecutive year. Kyaira Wright-Harmon, who won three of four jumps while also tying a meet record, was an easy selection for NEC Overall Most Valuable Performer and Field Athlete of the Meet, while double-winner Stephanie Aidoo was named the Most Outstanding Track Performer.

The Blackbirds scored 137 points and won seven of 17 events, but could not catch champion Sacred Heart, which finished with 162 total points after leading the entire meet. Central Connecticut finished in a distant third with 64 points, followed by Wagner, Robert Morris, Saint Francis U., Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Francis Brooklyn and Bryant.

In the first event of the day for the Blackbirds, Gabriella Ade-Onojobi captured the 60-meter hurdles title. The top qualifier in prelims, the London native came in at 8.81, her best time of the season.

Aidoo added another gold medal to LIU's growing collection, winning the 400m dash in 57.05. Teammate Nichole Candelaria was right behind her in a time of 57.46, while Alea Stevens was sixth in 59.08.

Wright-Harmon won her third jump event of the meet after placing first in both the high jump and long jump yesterday. She was victorious in the triple jump with a mark of 11.62, settling her already strong case for Field Athlete of the Meet.

The Blackbirds were quite successful in both relays as well. First, in the distance medley relay, LIU placed second in 12:27.64. LIU Brooklyn won the gold in 4x400 relay, coming in at 3:53.80 to finish out the meet.

The indoor season is not over yet for LIU, with the NCAA Championships still on the horizon. This year's meet takes place March 13-14 at the University of Arkansas.
