WEST WINSOR, N.J. - The top-seeded LIU Brooklyn women's tennis team fell to No.2 seed Bryant in the Northeast Conference championship match Sunday morning at the Mercer County Tennis Center, 4-0.

The Bulldogs took an early lead on the Blackbirds, winning the doubles point. Bryant had wins in the Nos. 2 and 3 spots. At No.2, Ashanti Campfield and Rosie Bird beat Caroline Koenigsfeldt and Nancy Zonneveld, 8-2. Meanwhile, in the No.3 split, Briana Leonard and Linnea Sjoberg defeated Isabella Wagener and Juweria Hussain, 8-3, to clinch the point. At No.1 doubles, Sanne Louwers and Marine Dans were leading Ryan Brown and Marion Bouillin, 6-5, when the match was stopped.

Bryant had three wins in singles to take the team win. Bird beat Hussain at No.6, 6-1, 6-0 to make it 2-0, and Sjoberg beat Koenigsfeldt in the No.3 spot, 6-2, 6-1. And at No.1 singles, Brown beat Lowers, 6-2, 6-1, to clinch the win for the team. The other three matches were halted when the Bulldogs earned the fourth point and clinched the championship.

LIU finishes the season 9-8 overall, and 4-1 in conference play.
