BEDMINSTER, N.J. - The LIU Brooklyn women's golf team made an 11-stroke improvement on day two of the Seton Hall Pirate Invitational, finishing ninth overall.
The Blackbirds totaled 633 for the two days after starting the tournament with a 322. George won the team title with 599, followed by Princeton, Columbia, Penn and Georgetown in the top five.
Junior Marisol Doglioli and senior Brianna Maynard both tied for 23rd. Doglioli carded a three-over 75, an eight-stroke improvement and the low round of the tournament for LIU, to finish with 158, while Maynard repeated her first round score of 79. Doglioli finished with five birdies for the tournament, while Maynard posted three.
Current NEC Player of the Week Cristina Felip tied for 39th after knocking four strokes off of her first round score, also carding a 79 for a total of 162. Senior Alice Boothroyd was one stroke behind with 163 in a tie for 42nd, while junior Victoria Fagan had the largest improvement of the day for LIU with 10 strokes. She shot a 78 for a two-day score of 166.
Columbia's Camilla Vik earned medalist honors with a two-under 142.
LIU Brooklyn is back in action next Wednesday, April 8 with a ti-match against Rutgers and St. John's in Piscataway, N.J.
