BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn senior Katrina Anderson has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District I Women's Track & Field/Cross Country first team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Anderson, a three-time member of the NEC Academic Honor Roll and a Chi Alpha Sigma National Honor Society inductee, has a 3.87 grade point average as a biology major at LIU. The Capital One Academic All-District at-large team, which is voted on by sports information directors around the nation, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Anderson is one of 11 honorees in District I.
The Aukland, New Zealand product helped the Blackbirds to a second-place finish at the Northeast Conference Championships in May, winning the 1500-meter run, and placing second in the 800m. The school record-holder in the 800m, Anderson won both events in 2014, helping lead LIU to the NEC Championship title in outdoor track & field. Anderson was also named the 2014 Women's Indoor Track & Field Northeast Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year.
As a first-team All-District honoree, Anderson will be eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced later this month.
