2015 LIU Brooklyn Men's Soccer Schedule
BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team, coming off a trip to the Northeast Conference Tournament this past season, will host 10 opponents as part of its 2015 schedule, it was announced by head coach TJ Kostecky on Friday. The 18-match schedule also includes the inaugural Brooklyn Bridge Cup, a four-team event co-hosted with local rival St. Francis Brooklyn.
The Blackbirds open the season with a pair of road games at Presbyterian and UNC Asheville before taking on St. Bonaventure in their home opener on Friday, Sept. 4 at LIU Field. The contest against the Bonnies will be the first of the Brooklyn Bridge Cup, which also features the Terriers and UMass Lowell this year.
Non-conference road trips to Rider and Saint Joseph's follow the pair of home games, before LIU Brooklyn returns to downtown Brooklyn for three of its next four beginning with Howard on Sept. 18. The Blackbirds will make the short trek to face Saint Peter's two days later, then host La Salle (Sept. 26) and NJIT (Sept. 30) leading into their first Northeast Conference contest at Fairleigh Dickinson on Oct. 9.
A three-game homestand that includes games against Bryant, Robert Morris and Saint Francis U. concludes with Alumni Day on Sunday, Oct. 18. The annual gathering of former Blackbirds will take place in conjunction with the game against the Red Flash, who defeated LIU 1-0 in the NEC Tournament quarterfinals a season ago.
LIU continues NEC play with two matches in Connecticut against Central Connecticut and Sacred Heart before rounding out non-conference play at home on Nov. 1 against Georgia Southern. The regular season ends with the Battle of Brooklyn against St. Francis Brooklyn on Nov. 8, leading into the NEC Tournament which will be hosted at the top seed on Nov. 13-15.
