2015 All-NPSL Teams
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – LIU Brooklyn alum and Sacramento Gold FC goalkeeper John Connolly has been named to the 2015 All-National Professional Soccer League Second Team, the league announced last week.
Connolly was a crucial part of Sacramento's success this year, helping the Gold FC to a 7-3-2 record. His stellar saves played a key role in Sacramento earning a third consecutive trip to the NPSL West Region Final.
This is Connolly's second league-wide honor this season. After his incredible 15-save effort in the Gold's 3-0 win the opener against the San Francisco Stompers, Connolly was chosen as the first Mitre National Player of the Week for the 2015 season.
In his senior year at LIU, Connolly started nine games with a goals-against average of 1.17 and a save percentage of 0.776. He totaled 38 saves while recording a 3-5-1 record.
He played for the NPSL's Brooklyn Italians from 2011-2013, where he was a regular with the team. He started in goal for the team's playoff loss in 2013.
Following his time with the Italians, Connolly joined Gold FC and became the starting keeper, helping the team to the Golden Gate Conference and West Region titles in 2014.
