BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team was ranked among the top collegiate programs by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, as it earned the Academic Honor Squad Award for the 2015 season.
A total of 86 division I college lacrosse teams received the honor this season. To be recognized as a IWLCA/Zag Sports Academic Honor Squad, a team must have a collective grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Senior midfielder and nursing major, Colleen Holmes, was also named to the 2015 IWLCA/Zag Sports Division I Academic Honor Roll. Holmes started 15 games last year and helped the Blackbirds to a program record seven victories.
All student-athletes awarded with the honor have achieved at least junior status academically and had a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.
