RESULTS
BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn women's cross country team traveled to Smithfield, R.I. to compete in the Nassaney Invitational this Saturday. The Blackbirds competed against 11 teams in the pre-conference 5K.
Leading the Blackbirds was Esther Jean-Louis, who finished with the best 5K time of her collegiate career. Jean-Louis crossed the line at 19:22, averaging a 6:13 mile.
After finishing 10th out of 77 competitors at the Monmouth 4K meet last weekend, Jean-Louis crossed the line at 35th in a 118-competitor field this Saturday in Smithfield.
Sophomores, Kharyn Ethridge and Adjovi Simpini followed Jean-Louis, crossing the line at 20:10 and 21:01, respectively. Alison Doway once again led the squad for the upperclassmen, finishing with a time of 22:04, while Niteesa Brooks crossed the line at 27:40.
The Blackbirds finished 11th overall team competition, averaging a team 22:03 finish time. LIU will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 26th at the Fairfield Leeber Invitational, held in Fairfield, CT.
