BROOKLYN, N.Y – The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team is back at LIU Field this Friday, Sept. 18, taking on Howard at 6:00 p.m. On Sunday, Sept. 20th, the Blackbirds face off against the Peacocks of Saint Peter's in Jersey City, N.J. at 2:00 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blackbirds are 2-4 on the season after suffering a 3-2 loss to St. Joseph's in double overtime last Sunday. Freshman Rasmus Hansen scored a pair of goals while sophomore Cole Palmer registered seven saves in defeat.
ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDS
Hansen continues to lead the Blackbird offense with four goals and two assists, while redshirt freshman Romario Guscott has also been a contributing factor for LIU with two goals on the season. Sophomore keeper Cole Palmer has recorded 17 saves this season for the Blackbirds.
ABOUT THE BISON
Howard is 0-6 coming into the match against LIU. Sophomore Kyle Celestine is leading the Bison with two goals on the season. Keeper Sam Howard has recorded 30 saves in six starts for Howard University. Howard was issued a red card in the Bison's last game against Liberty University and will not be playing in Friday's match.
ABOUT THE PEACOCKS
St. Peter's is 2-3-1 after defeating Sacred Heart on Wednesday night, 2-1. Sophomore Ezequiel Cei has scored five of the Peacocks' nine goals this season, while junior Luke Fairlamb has also been an offensive threat for St. Peter's with three assists and two goals. Keeper Jamie Cleland has 28 saves on the season.
ALL-TIME SERIES
The Blackbirds faced off against the Bison last season, defeating Howard 4-1, bringing the all-time series record to 5-2-1.
LIU Brooklyn is currently undefeated against the Peacocks, 2-0. The last time the Blackbirds played St. Peter's was back in 1992 with a 4-0 victory for LIU.
UP NEXT
After a short stint on the road, the Blackbirds return to LIU Field to host games against La Salle and NJIT. LIU will face off against La Salle on Saturday, Sept. 26 at 1:00 p.m. and take on NJIT the following Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 6:00 p.m.
