BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team will host the Highlanders of NJIT on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 6:00 p.m. Video of the contest will be available, weather permitting, on NEC Front Row.
LAST TIME OUT
The Blackbirds tied with La Salle, 0-0, in double overtime last Saturday afternoon at LIU Field. LIU's defense kept the Explorers off the board, but the Blackbirds struggled to score against an equally strong La Salle defense. The Blackbirds are 2-5-2 this season.
ABOUT THE BLACKBIRDS
Freshman Rasmus Hansen is LIU's leading scorer with five goals, while redshirt freshman Romario Guscott has also been a contributing factor for the Blackbirds with two goals on the season. Sophomore keeper Cole Palmer has recorded 19 saves so far this season for LIU.
ABOUT THE HIGHLANDERS
NJIT is 2-4-2 going into Wednesday's match after tying with Fordham, 0-0, this past Saturday. Senior Joshua Mercer is the offensive leader for the Highlanders, with three goals and one assist. Junior keeper Christian Foust has recorded 15 saves on the season for NJIT.
ALL-TIME SERIES
Last season, the Blackbirds fell to the Highlanders, 3-1, bringing the all-time series record to 4-5-1. The last time LIU defeated NJIT was in 2010. The game was determined by a Blackbird goal in overtime, giving the Blackbirds a 4-3 victory over the Highlanders.

The Blackbirds will face off against Fairleigh Dickinson on the road at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9 in their first conference game of the season. Men's soccer returns to Brooklyn on Sunday, Oct. 11 at 1:00 p.m. to host Bryant at LIU Field.
