BROOKYLN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn Women's Cross Country team begins its 2015 campaign this weekend this Saturday, Sept. 5 at the Monmouth XC Kick-Off at Thompson Park in Lincroft, N.J.
Head coach Janine Davis is back for her second season with the Blackbirds, leading a team of nine. Three letterwinners will be returning for LIU Brooklyn, including top performer Esther Jean-Louis, who led the squad last season. The sophomore finished 50th overall at the NEC championships and posted her best finish time of 19:48.18 at the 5K Ted Owens Invitational.
The LIU Brooklyn roster features just one upperclassmen, and welcomes seven newcomers for the 2015 season, making them one of the youngest teams in the NEC.
The Blackbirds are in their second season of competition after a brief hiatus and will be participating in seven different meets this fall. With the inaugural season under their belt, Davis has noticed how hard her squad has worked over the summer, and is looking to forward to what they can accomplish this season.
LIU will travel to New England twice to compete before heading there a third time to take part in the Northeast Conference Championships in Smithfield, R.I. on Halloween.
