BROOKLYN, N.Y. – A pair of LIU Brooklyn men's soccer freshmen, Rasmus Hansen and Simen Hestnes, had outstanding inaugural seasons with the Blackbirds, earning them spots on TopDrawerSoccer.com's men's soccer top-100 college freshmen list.
Hansen ranks 61st in the nation for the 2015 season, following his recent selection to the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) First Team. The Greve, Denmark native was also recently recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for his outstanding performance throughout the season and was selected to the 2015 NSCAA NCAA Division I Men's All-Northeast Region Second Team. Hansen earned Northeast Conference Rookie of the Year honors after finishing the regular season ranked third on the circuit with seven goals and 18 points.
Hestnes, who's performance this past season garnered a 70th overall ranking, earned All-NEC first team and All-Rookie team honors in his first season as a Blackbird after finishing the regular season ranked third on the team in points (10) off of three goals and four assists. The Oslo, Norway native had also been named the NEC Player and Rookie of the Week in November.
