Final Results
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y – LIU Brooklyn track & field kicked-off its regular indoor season on Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Villanova Open. Both the men and women's teams finished sixth overall, scoring 56 and 43 points, respectively.
Senior Cemorne Baugh got the Blackbirds off to a good start, sprinting into sixth place in the women's 60-meter dash with a time of 7.80. Fellow classmate Anise Cuffee and sophomore Elizabeth Adesanya followed Baugh's performance with sixth and fourth place finishes in the 400-meter dash. Adesanya clocked 57.33 for fourth and Cuffee came in at 58.78 to secure sixth overall.
Adesanya, alongside freshman Shantae McDonald, and seniors Gabriella Ade-Onojobi and Alea Stevens, clinched second in the women's 4x400-meter relay, crossing the finish line at 3:53.09 for their silver finish. Sophomore Christina Abiola threw 12.16 meters in women's shot put, earning fifth overall for the event.
The freshmen pair of Caleb Williams and Roderick Moodie came through for the Blackbirds on the men's side, securing two of the team's three third place finishes. Williams sprinted 22.11 in the 200-meter dash, setting a personal best at LIU in the event. Moodie also set a personal best with a time of 8.20 in the 60-meter hurdles for his bronze finish of the day.
The team of Williams, junior Karl Cajuste, and seniors Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme and Tyler Cue came in third in the 4x400-meter relay, recording 3:17.66 for the event to close out the meet for the Blackbirds.
