Men's Soccer Garners NSCAA Team Academic Award

BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn was one of 315 NCAA Division I men's soccer programs from around the country to earn the Team Academic Award from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, for exemplary performance in the classroom as a team during the 2015-16 academic year. The Blackbirds, who on the pitch won the Northeast Conference regular season and tournament titles, posted a 3.33 cumulative GPA to earn the award for the eighth straight year.

A total of 893 soccer teams (315 men, 578 women) were bestowed the honor, with all teams having to post a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. Under head coach TJ Kostecky, LIU Brooklyn has been among the top academic teams in the country and boasted the top team GPA in the nation for the 2011-12 academic year.

LIU Brooklyn, who currently has a 7-3-2 record and is 1-0-1 in NEC play, returns to the soccer pitch on Friday, Oct. 14 at Robert Morris for a league match, beginning at 3:00 p.m.
