Day 2 Results
KENOSHA, Wisc. - The LIU Brooklyn bowling team took on four of the top teams in the nation Saturday at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Classic, including two ranked in the top five, and put up some of the best individual numbers of the season so far. The Blackbirds totaled 4,658 pins Saturday, for a cumulative total of 9,304 pins this weekend so far, good to hold in ninth place out of 17 teams.
LIU opened the day with a loss to No. 19 Adelphi, 935-873. Junior Kristina Genova led the Blackbirds in that match, bowling a 225. Two other Blackbirds had strong performances in the next match, when LIU took on No. 4 Vanderbilt, falling 1,078 to 993. Senior Madison Lukosius bowled a 216 to lead LIU, while sophomore Kayla Johnson came in with a 208.
The Blackbirds had their first win of the day next, beating Lincoln Memorial, 951-697. Johnson led LIU with a 226, while junior Lauren McKowen had a 220, and Genova bowled a 205. McKowen led LIU against No. 3 Arkansas State, who defeated the Blackbirds, 1,107 to 1,002. The righty bowled a 247, while junior Alyssa Balicki was next, with a 215. Johnson had another big match, coming in with a 204. LIU capped the day with a loss to No. 25 Elmhurst, 880-839.
LIU wraps up the UWW Warhawk Classic Sunday, November 13, with three best of seven baker matches. The Blackbirds will open taking on No. 19 Adelphi. Follow LIU Bowling on Facebook for live coverage of all Blackbird matches.
