UWW Warhawk Classic Final Results
KENOSHA, Wisc. - The LIU Brooklyn bowling team went 2-1 in bracket action on the final day of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater Warhawk Classic, to finish ninth overall out of 17 teams. The Blackbirds had a final day pinfall of 3,781, putting LIU at 13,085 total pins for the weekend, and a team average of 184.3.
The Blackbirds capped the weekend in three best of seven baker matches by beating No. 19 Adelphi twice, and falling to No. 9 host Wisconsin-Whitewater.
In the first match of the day, the No. 13 ranked Blackbirds beat Adelphi, 4-3. LIU won the first game, 188-158, before Adelphi evened it up, winning 184-139. From there, the two teams traded back and forth, each winning matches until it was tied up, 3-3. In the decisive seventh match, the Blackbirds pulled out a big win, 225-147.
Facing off against the host UWW, LIU was not quite as lucky. After winning the first match, 170-159, the two teams once again went back and forth. This time, however, in the seventh match, it was Wisconsin-Whitewater that came out with the win, 196-146, to take the match win, 4-3.
And facing off against Adelphi for the second time, LIU once again pulled out four wins to take the best of seven victory, 4-3.
The Blackbird finish the weekend with a 4-8 tournament record, good for ninth overall. Up next, LIU takes part in the UMES Hawk Classic in Milsboro, Del., November 18-20.
