STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-The LIU Brooklyn women's track and field team opened its season at the Metro Holiday Season Opener Friday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
Freshman Taylor Parker finished in third-place in the women's shot put throwing 12.97m.
Freshman Angeli Andre continued the Blackbirds success placing second in the high jump clearing the bar at 1.60m.
Senior Rashema Briscoe also had a good day in the field events placing seventh in the shot put (11.42m) and seventh in the triple jump (10.27m).
Senior Teena Mobley finished tied for seventh in the long jump with a mark of 5.00m.
On the track, sophomore Zaahira Deboise finished seventh in the 500-meter dash crossing the line in 1:20.83. Right behind her were freshman T'Rejyah Johnson (1:21.16) and junior Nerene Aberdeen (1:21.18), who placed eighth and ninth respectively.
Junior Esther Jean-Louis placed seventh in the 3000m run completing the race in 11:24.05, and freshman Liz Burton finished eighth in the 1000m running a 3:28.34.
The 4x400m relay rounded out the day with a seventh-place finish running a 4:09.34.
The Blackbirds return to action Thursday, December 8, at the 6th Annual St. John's Bill Ward Meet in South Huntington, N.Y.
