BROOKLYN, N.Y.- The LIU Brooklyn women's track & field team was picked second in the 2016-17 Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, which was announced Tuesday.
Defending NEC Champion, Sacred Heart was picked first and collected seven first-place votes. The Blackbirds were selected second and received three first-place votes. Central Connecticut was third, followed by Mount. St. Mary's and Saint Francis University, who were tied for fourth. Robert Morris and Fairleigh Dickinson finished sixth and seventh respectively, with Wagner behind them in eighth. Rounding out the poll was Bryant in ninth and St. Francis Brooklyn in 10th.
The Northeast Conference Championship meet is scheduled for February 17 and 18 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, New York.
The Blackbirds return to the track Friday, January 6 when they compete in the Wagner College Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
