SOUTH HUNTINGTON, N.Y.-  Cassandra Jones placed first in the 60-meter dash at the St. John's Bill Ward Invitational Thursday. The senior crossed the line in 7.72, which was 0.15 ahead of the second-place runner.

Sophomore Shantae McDonald placed fifth running an 8.02.

LIU Brooklyn continued its success in the 500m. Senior Satima Chambers placed second running a 1:17.21. Right behind her was sophomore Cayla Coleman, who ran a 1:18.77. Junior Esther Jean-Louis (1:22.17) and freshman Liz Burton (1:31.84) finished fifth and eighth respectively.

The Blackbirds added another top-five finish in the 60m hurdles. Senior Rashema Briscoe placed fifth finishing the race in 9.62.

LIU returns to action Friday, December 9 when it competes in the Seahawk-Shootout in Staten Island, New York.
