Day Two Results
HOUSTON, Texas - After defeating the top team in the nation on Friday, the LIU Brooklyn women's bowling team concluded the second day of the Stephen F. Austin Stormin' Ladyjack Classic with a 4-2 record. The Blackbirds will head into the final day of competition with a 7-5 record overall, while currently holding on to seventh place.
Wins for the Blackbirds included Louisiana Tech, 1023 to 911, Jackson State 981 to 861, Texas Southern, 1083 to 938, and Southern, 910 to 781.
LIU's sole losses on the day came against No. 2 Nebraska, 917 to 1046, and in a close match-up against No. 11 North Carolina A&T, 1020 to 1025.
Senior Natasha Bidwell knocked down a total of 1,213 pins Saturday afternoon. Individually, Bidwell ranked 17th out of 109 bowlers on the day, the highest on the Blackbirds roster. Sophomore Kristina Genova was right behind her at the 21st spot with 1,201 pins.
Tori Burkins was a key threat for LIU, posting a 221 in the match against the No. 2 team, Nebraska. The junior also contributed to the wins against Jackson Stae and Texas Southern with a 213 and 235, respectively.
Sunday, Feb. 14 will be the final day of the SFA Classic. The Blackbirds and the rest of the competitors will begin bracket play consisting of three, best-of-seven baker matches. Sunday's action is set to begin at 9:30 ET.
