BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The men and women's track & field teams completed a very busy weekend competing at the NYC Metropolitan Indoor Championships, Villanova Invitational and the 2016 Armory Track Invitational from Thursday, Feb. 4 through Saturday, Feb. 6.
At the NYC Metropolitan Indoor Championships, freshman Deshawne Bunion ran a personal best 22.70 in the 200m dash to finish eighth in the event, followed by sophomore Ernest Agyeman, who claimed 13th overall with a time of 23.03. Junior Garvey Moore sprinted into the top-10 for the Blackbirds in the 400m dash, crossing the line at 50.90.
The upper classmen led the way for the women's team at the Metro Champs with senior Stephanie Aidoo's fourth place finish in the 60m dash, clocking 7.74 in the event and junior Cemorne Baugh's bronze performance in the 200m dash in 24.65 as she continues to dominate the Northeast Conference leaderboard in the event with a new personal best. Senior Alea Stevens continued to add to the Blackbirds' success, crossing the finish line in 1:16.32 to place sixth, setting a personal best in the 500m dash.
Sophomore Esther Jean-Louis broke the top-10 in the 3000m run and set a new personal best time of 10:42.17. Fellow classmate Christina Abiola claimed third in a field of 17 in shot put, throwing 12.70m and went on to set a new personal best of throwing 13.05m in the weight throw.
The women continued to do well at the Villanova Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 6. Baugh sprinted into seventh in the final heat of the 60m dash with a time of 8.19. Aidoo and junior Cassandra Jones placed third and fourth, respectively, in the 200m dash. Aidoo crossed the line at 24.73 with Jones close behind at 24.79.
Junior Karl Cajuste finished in 11th of 35 sprinters in the 200m dash, clocking 49.69 in the event at the Nova Invitational.
At the 2016 Armory Invitational, senior Mica-Jonathan Petit-Homme ran a personal best in the 500m run, clinching third with a time of 1:04.49. In the same event for the women, sophomore Elizabeth Adesanya claimed sixth overall at 1:16.50 and freshman Cayla Coleman placed 10th, clocking 1:17.11. Jones crossed the line at 1:13.79 in the 500m dash, finishing in fourth.

The Blackbirds will travel back to Boston for the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational with the women competing on Friday, Feb. 12 and the men on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the BU Track & Tennis Center.
