BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Alexis Maldonado was named the Northeast Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league on Monday.
Maldonado, a senior, had a stellar final weekend as a Blackbird, as the LIU team split a pair of NEC matches to conclude the season.
In 60 minutes between the pipes, the senior posted a career-best 17 saves against Bryant. Despite the loss, the 17 saves was a career-best for Maldonado.
But the West Babylon, N.Y. product ended her career on a high-note, earning the win on Senior Day against Central Connecticut on LIU Field.
The team picked up the 6-5 overtime win over the Blue Devils, and Maldonado picked up her fourth win of the season after going 63:37 in the cage, recording six saves and three ground balls.
The net minder has appeared in 37 games over her career as a Blackbird, including 14 this season. Following the seaosn finale, Maldonado's save percentage is at .433.
