BROOKLYN, N.Y. - For the second time this season, a freshman from the LIU Brooklyn men's soccer team has earned weekly honors from the Northeast Conference. On Monday, newcomer Marius Koss was named NEC Rookie of the Week for his efforts in the Blackbirds' 1-1 tie against Howard on Sunday.
Koss scored the first goal of his collegiate career in LIU Brooklyn's 1-1 tie against Howard on Sunday. The freshman found the back of the net in the 81st minute off a corner kick from reigning NEC Rookie of the Year Rasmus Hansen. On the year, the Oslo, Norway native has started all five matches for the Blackbirds and has played 458 of a possible 470 minutes.
LIU Brooklyn (2-2-1) will host defending Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Tournament champion Rider on Friday, Sept. 16 in its home opener at LIU Field. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m.
