STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- The LIU Brooklyn women's track & field team competed in the Great Dane Classic Saturday at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The Blackbirds scored 26 points to place eighth in the 20-team field.

The Blackbirds 4x400 'A' relay (freshman Angeli Andre, senior Satima Chambers, sophomore Cayla Coleman, and sophomore Zaahira Deboise) crossed the line in 3:53:87 to place third.

Sophomore Shantae McDonald finished fifth in the 60-meter hurdles running an 8.81.  

LIU had three runners place in the top-10 in the 200-meter dash. Chambers (24.75) placed sixth, senior Cassandra Jones (24.99) placed seventh, and McDonald (25.26) placed ninth.

Jones continued her successful season with an eighth-place finish in the 60m crossing the line in 7.86.

In the field events, Taylor Parker finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 12.77m.

The Blackbirds return to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex Friday, January 20 when they compete in the Gotham Cup.
