BROOKLYN, N.Y. - The LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team continues early season action with a Monday night nonconference matchup in the Bronx, taking on local rival Fordham in Rose Hill Gym as a part of the Jamaica Classic tournament. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

- LIU is coming off of a close loss in their 2017-18 season opener at Tulane. The Blackbirds fell to the Green Wave in a high-scoring shooting contest, 102-96. LIU had closed the gap to just two points with less than a minute to go, but Tulane took the win in the end. It was the most points scored by the Blackbirds since the 2015-16 season, as the team made 38 field goals in the loss.
- Junior Raiquan Clark had a breakout game for LIU, scoring a career-high 34 points on 14-of-20 shooting. He also set career highs in steals (3), and minutes played (35).
- Fifth year Zach Coleman also set a career high in the contest, with 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting.
- Sophomore Jashaun Agosto had 14 points and four assists, setting new career marks in both rebounds (6) and minutes played (40), while senior Joel Hernandez added 23 points and six rebounds, and tied his career high with two blocks.
- Fordham also dropped their season opener, 55-54 to Miami (Ohio). The Rams had 13 steals in the loss. Senior guard Will Tavares led scoring with 15 points, while junior guard Joseph Chartouny had 12 points, six rebounds and five steals.
- Fordham was picked to finish 13th in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll after going 13-19 overall and 7-11 in the A10 last year. Chartouny was named both preseason All-Atlantic 10 Third Team, and to the All-Defensive Team on a squad that has just one freshman on the roster.
- Monday's matchup marks the 15th meeting between the two programs. Fordham holds the all-time advantage, 10-4, including two years ago in the Bronx, when the Rams won in overtime, 89-84.
- Up next, the Blackbirds play at home for the first time this season, hosting the College of New Rochelle, Wednesday, November 15 at 7 p.m.
