BROOKLYN, N.Y. - LIU Brooklyn men's basketball senior Raiquan Clark was named to the All-Met Men's Basketball Division I Second Team, it was announced by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers' Association Monday.
The honor, voted on by basketball writers in the New York City metropolitan area, is the latest postseason honor for the New Haven native. Clark was named first team All-Northeast Conference this season, as well as to the NABC All-District First Team.
Joe Mihalich of Hofstra and Kevin Willard of Seton Hall were named Co-Coaches of the Year, while Nick Honor of Fordham was named the Rookie of the Year. The winner of the 86th Lt. Frank J. Haggerty Award as All-Met Men's Player of the Year will be announced by the MBWA at the annual awards dinner on Tuesday.
Clark earned his first All-Met career honors, after leading the NEC in scoring all season long. Clark averaged 18.9 points per game this season, leading all scorers in the conference all season. He also averaged 6.8 rebounds per game, ranking sixth in the NEC, and ranked in the top 12 in field goal percentage (.503 - 10th), steals (1.25 per game - 11th), offensive rebounds (1.94 per game - 9th), defensive rebounds (4.81 per game - 6th) and minutes played (32.34 - 10th). He finished the regular season with six double doubles, and had 14 games this season where he scored 20 points or more. Earlier this year, he became the 36th player in LIU Brooklyn basketball history to eclipse the 1,000-point mark. Since then, he's tallied 1,406 career points, ranking him 18th on the all time scoring list.
