LOWELL, Mass. - The LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team continues its lengthy road swing, taking on UMass Lowell in the Costello Athletic Center, Wednesday, November 22 at 3 p.m. The Blackbirds and the River Hawks will face off in a contest that will air on ESPN3.

- LIU is coming off a 1-1 performance at the 2017 Jamaica Classic in Montego Bay last week. After falling to Miami (Ohio) 78-74 in the opener, the Blackbirds beat Hartford in a thriller, 86-84. The Hawks missed a last-second three that would have given them the win.
- Senior Joel Hernandez and junior Raiquan Clark were named to the All-Tournament team for their play over the week.
- Clark was the team's leading scorer Saturday, putting up 21 points and grabbing eight rebounds, shooting 9-for-9 from the free throw line. Sophomore Jashaun Agosto had 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting, seven assists and six rebounds. Zach Coleman went 4-for-8 from three for 14 points, while Joel Hernandez had 10 points and four assists for LIU. Raul Frias and Jamall Robinson both had season highs in the win, with nine and eight points respectively.
- UMass Lowell enters the contest 3-1 so far, and are unbeaten at home this season. After dropping their season opener at UMass, 74-69, the River Hawks have beaten UMass Boston, Marist and Cornell at home.
- Redshirt senior and guard/forward combo Jahad Thomas played his first two games of the season this week, and made quite the impact. Thomas was named America East Player of the Week after he averaged a double-double of 19.0 points and 13.5 rebounds to lead the River Hawks to two wins. He also had 13 assists and two steals.
- Aside from Thomas, three different River Hawks average in double figures so far this year: junior guard Matt Harris (17.5 points per game), junior guard Ryan Jones (12.0 points per game) and unrelated junior guard Shawn Jones (11.0 points per game).
- Last year, the two teams went to extra time in Lowell. LIU came out on top, 82-78, behind 27 points from graduated senior Jerome Frink.
