BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team will welcome local foe Stony Brook to the Steinberg Wellness Center Monday, December 4. The Blackbirds and the Seawolves, both of whom are coming off last-second victories this past weekend, will square off in a non-conference matchup that is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

- For the second time in as many weeks, LIU took on Hartford in men's basketball, and for the second time in as many games, the Blackbirds (3-6) and the Hawks saw the game come down to the final seconds of play. And for the second time, it was LIU that came out on top, beating Hartford in the Steinberg Wellness Center Thursday night, 79-78.
- Redshirt senior Joel Hernandez led LIU in the win, with 10 rebounds and a career-high 27 points, including the game-winning free throw. It was his first double double this season, and second in his career.
- With the win, the Blackbirds snapped a three-game losing streak, and improved to a perfect 2-0 in the Steinberg Wellness Center.
- Sophomore Julian Batts had a box-score filling game. He is just one of two players in the nation to finish a game with at least with 17 points, six steals, five rebounds, and five assists. He shot 5-of-9 from the field and 4-for-6 from long distance in the win for LIU.
- Sophomore Jashaun Agosto finished with 14 points and three assists.
- LIU shot 52.9 percent from the field, but just 56.7 percent from the free throw line.
- Stony Brook (3-5) is also coming off a buzzer beating win, having defeated NEC preseason favorite Saint Francis U. Saturday night, 85-83. The Seawolves pulled off the come-from-behind win by making a layup with five seconds left to play. The win was the second-straight for Stony Brook, who beat Shawnee State earlier in the week. Stony Brook has also defeated Brown this season, 77-64.
- This is just the second all-time meeting between the Seawolves and the Blackbirds. The two teams first met in 2014 in Madison Square Garden, a 73-54 win for Stony Brook.
- The Seawolves are led by three players averaging in double figures: redshirt sophomore guard/forward Akwasi Yeboah (12.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg), senior forward Tyrell Sturdivant (10.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg), and freshman forward Elijah Olaniyi (10.3 ppg).
