Men’s Basketball Faces Off With Fairfield at the Barclays Center

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn men's basketball team will host Fairfield University this Sunday, December 10, at Barclays Center, the downtown Brooklyn arena for the NBA's Brooklyn Nets. The game, set to tip-off at 3:30 p.m., is a part of a doubleheader with the LIU Brooklyn women's basketball team, and the first game of two this week that the Blackbirds will play at Barclays. LIU will also host Saint Peter's at the Barclays Center next Sunday, December 17.

  • The Blackbirds won their second-straight game at home Monday night, beating Stony Brook, 75-71. LIU also beat Hartford on November 30th, 79-78, making it the first time this season LIU has won two in a row.
  • LIU was led by senior Joel Hernandez (23 points), who was one of four LIU players in double figures, including Raiquan Clark, Julius van Sauers and Jashaun Agosto.

  • Senior guard Tyler Nelson leads the team with 19.6 points per game average, and also leads the team in assists, averaging 3.4 per game.
  • 6-9 junior forward Matija Milin leads the team with 5.9 rebounds per game, along with 7.4 points per game.
  • All time, Fairfield leads the series between the two schools, 8-5, in a rivalry that dates back to 1959. The last time the two teams met in 1998, the Stags beat the Blackbirds, 85-60.
