Women's Golf Takes Third At Lonnie Barton

DAYTONA BEACH, FLA. --- After a second and final round of action at the Lonnie Barton Invitational, the LIU Brooklyn women's golf team ended its opening spring tournament in third place overall behind fellow NEC members Sacred Heart and Saint Francis (PA).

While the Blackbirds remained in their second round starting spot at the end of the event, the team did register the largest score improvement from Monday's first round of anyone  - minus 13 strokes (329-316=645)

Freshman Carolina Ronchel did her part to stay in contention for the individual title, shooting a second straight six-over 78 to end with a score of 156 (+12) to conclude the event tied for fourth place. Junior Lauren Rutherglen and freshmen Rebeca Pardos lowered their first round scores by five and one strokes each to land tied for 10th overall on the individual front.

LIU will jump right back into action this weekend for a team matchup with Bethune-Cookman in Florida from March 9-11.
