GREENVILLE, S.C. – The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team fell to Furman on the road Wednesday afternoon, dropping a 15-8 decision to move to 1-4 on the season, after the Paladins scored five goals in five minutes at the start of the second half.
The Blackbirds played Furman closely as the game got started. After the home team took a 3-1 lead, LIU would use back-to-back goals from junior
Christina Zolezzi to tie the game up, 3-3 with 15 minutes to play. Furman would score four more times in the half, but sophomore
Candice Mosal had a goal and senior co-captain
Jenn Peters would score back-to-back goals in the final two minutes of the first half to cut the lead to just one, 7-6 at the break.
Senior
Mary McQueen evened the score just three and a half minutes into the second half of the game, with an unassisted goal to make it 7-7, but the home team would score the next seven goals. The run included a five-goal flurry, when the Paladins scored five times in just five minutes, to widen the lead to 12-7.
Mosal added an unassisted goal with just under six minutes to play, but Furman would come out on top in the contest, 15-8.
Sophomore goalie
Virginia Gibbons had the loss in net, finishing with seven saves.

Christina Zolezzi each had two goals for LIU.
Mary McQueen had a goal, an assist and two draw controls, while
Kathryn Harvey had a goal, an assists, two caused turnovers, two ground balls and two draw controls.
