SOUTH ORANGE, N.J. – The LIU Brooklyn baseball team rallied from a 10-2 defeat in the first game to beat Seton Hall in the second game of the day, 6-2.

In the first game of the day, sophomore Andrew Smith had LIU's only two RBIs, with his two-out double to left field that would bring home two base runners, and put the Blackbirds up 2-0 in the second inning. Seton Hall would tie the game up in the third, and take the lead in the fifth, but the sixth inning was where the Pirates took the lead for good.

Seton Hall would score seven runs on four hits in the sixth frame, including a three-RBI home run, that would put the home team up for good, 10-2.

The Blackbirds bounced back in the second game of the day, beating the Pirates at home, 6-2.

LIU got on the board first, scoring five runs in the top of the third inning. After sophomore Luis Arias de los Santos led off with a single, senior Charles Misiano would single through the right side and junior Dom Paiotti would work. Sophomore Joe Mercadante came to the plate, and had a single to deep left field that would bring two runs home. One out later, his classmate Edward Modica Jr. would have a two-out double to left field that would bring another two runs across the plate, putting LIU up, 4-0. Senior Harrison Preschel would put the last run of the inning on the board with a single to left center that was enough to bring Modica home, and the Blackbirds led, 5-0.

Two home runs in the bottom of the frame got the home team on the board, but strong defense by the Blackbirds for the rest of the game would stop Seton Hall's scoring there.
LIU added one more run in the top of the seventh, when freshman Joe Curcio had a triple to right center field to put the Blackbirds up, 6-2.

Seton Hall would get several runners in scoring position throughout the rest of the game, but LIU's pitching and defense would get the job done, as LIU won the nine inning contest, 6-2.

Freshman Jackson Svete (3-1) pitched 5.0 innings and earned the win for LIU, while sophomore Mike Kreiger had his fifth save of the season giving up just two hits in 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

The Blackbirds cap the series with Seton Hall Sunday, April 2 with a nine inning contest scheduled for 2 p.m.
