2016-17 NEC Winter Commissioner's Honor Roll
SOMERSET, N.J. – The Northeast Conference announced its 2016-17 Winter Academic Award winners Thursday afternoon, including the winter sports' Academic Honor Roll and the Commissioner's Honor Roll. 39 LIU Brooklyn student-athletes were honored by the conference for their work in the classroom.
The NEC's winter Academic Honor Roll, consisting of 539 student-athletes with a 3.20 or better grade point average, represented a 12.8 percent increase from 2015-16. There were also 140 student-athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll, recognizing those superior student-athletes with a 3.75 or better grade point average. The Commissioner's Honor Roll figure represents a 4.3 percent increase from a year ago.
The Blackbirds had four student athletes recognized as a part of the Commissioner's Honor Roll: women's basketball's Mackenzie Freeman, women's swimming 's Noemie Lacroix-Moreau, and bowling's Marlee Tyler and Tori Burkins.
In total, 39 LIU Brooklyn student athletes were named to the NEC Winter Academic Honor Roll. Women's basketball and women's swimming led the way, with nine honorees each.
