BROOKLYN, N.Y. – After two months on the road, and a home opener in Brookville, N.Y., the LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team will play their first game on LIU Field this season, hosting Sacred Heart Friday, April 14. The Blackbirds and the Pioneers will face off in downtown Brooklyn in a game slated to begin at 12 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
LIU moved to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in Northeast Conference action last weekend, falling to Bryant 19-7, and dropping a heartbreaker at CCSU, 13-12.
NEC PRIME PERFORMER
Senior Tori Shinkowitz was named an NEC Prime Performer this week for her performances over the weekend. The midfielder took ten shots last weekend in two games, scoring eight goals.
SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
Sacred Heart comes into the weekend with a 3-8 overall record, and 1-1 in the NEC. The Pioneers beat CCSU in their conference opener by one goal, 8-7, before falling to Bryant Sunday, 11-5.
Senior midfielder Caitlin Delaney leads the Pioneers with 29 points this season, on 17 goals and a team-high 12 assists. She also has a team-high ground balls (26), draw controls (31) and caused turnovers (34). Senior attacker Alyssa Pearce is the team's top goal scorer, with 19 so far this season, while junior attacker Averi Farhat has also scored 17 goals this year.

The Blackbirds hit the road next weekend, for two more crucial conference matchups. LIU will travel to Emmitsburg, Maryland to take on Mount St. Mary's, Friday, April 21 at 4 p.m., before returning to the five boroughs to take on Wagner, Sunday, April 23 at 11 a.m.
