BROOKLYN, N.Y. – The LIU Brooklyn women's lacrosse team fell to Sacred Heart on a sunny Friday afternoon on LIU Field, 17-3. With the loss, LIU moves to 2-9 overall, and 0-3 in Northeast Conference action, while Sacred Heart improves to 4-8 overall, and 2-1 in the NEC.

The Pioneers would take an early lead on the Blackbirds, scoring two goals in the first 90 seconds of the game. SHU would add two more to go up, 4-0, ten minutes into the first half.

Freshman Bianca Santucci got LIU on the board with 17 minutes left in the first half, when she scored a goal off a pass from senior Jenn Peters. Peters would also score a goal at the two-minute mark, and Dale Cosgrave added a goal with 27 seconds left to play in the first half, but SHU took the 9-3 lead into halftime.

The visiting team would hold LIU scoreless in the second half, and score nine goals over the period, widening the lead to 17-3. The Blackbirds would threaten in the final two minutes with a shot from Cosgrave, but a turnover would give SHU back the ball, and seal the win for the Pioneers.
