Women's Golf | Apr 20 | Women's Golf Headed To NEC Championships This Weekend Story Links NEC Championship Central Live Results BROOKLYN, N.Y. --- This weekend the LIU Brooklyn women's golf team will travel to Daytona Beach, Florida to compete in the Northeast Conference Championships. The three round event will be played at the LPGA International - Jones Course and take place from April 21-23. LIU AT THE 2016 CHAMPIONSHIPS The Blackbirds will look to improve upon their seventh place showing at last season's NEC Championships. Sophomore Emma Paschal was LIU's top finisher at the 2016 event as a freshman, tying for 21st overall after shooting a three-day score of 32-over 251 (86-84-81). Junior Lauren Rutherglen placed 23rd (85-82-85=252 / +33 and sophomore Sara Ciliberto was 31st (87-93-99=279 / +60) during their respective sophomore and freshman runs at NECs. TEAM OUTLOOK Of the six team members to record scores for the Blackbirds this season, freshman Carolina Ronchel has posted the lowest scoring average, carding a per round average of 79.6. The newcomer from Spain has been LIU's most consistent performer, finishing in the top 15 of all but one of her seven tournaments this year. Ronchel's best showing was a third-place performance at the St. John's Women's Invitational in October - one of three top fives this season. Rounding out the top three averages for the Blackbirds are Rutherglen's 84.5 average and freshman Rebeca Pardos' 85.07 mark. CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT The NEC Championships are a three-day, 54-hole event. Team scores are calculated by adding a team's four lowest scores from each day. The top ten individual finishers will be named to the NEC All-Tournament team.
