Women's Golf | Apr 22 | Women's Golf Moves Into Third At NEC Championships Story Links Results DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --- The LIU Brooklyn women's golf team improved to third place after the second round of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships Saturday afternoon at the LPGA International - Jones Course. The Blackbirds produced an 11-stroke improvement for its first round performance, going from a team score of 317 on Friday to 306 on Saturday. LIU's two-day mark of 47-over 623 has the team a mere five strokes behind second place Fairleigh Dickinson. LIU's leading trio of freshman Carolina Ronchel, junior Lauren Rutherglen and freshman Aida Gonzalez moved up the individual leaderboard as a result of the team's play. Ronchel ended Saturday in sole possession of fifth place at eight-over 152 after a second round score of three-over 75. Rutherglen matched Ronchel's 75 in the second round to move up to a tie for sixth (78-75=153 / +9) while Gonzalez moved into the top 10 with a second round 77 (79-77=156 / +12; T-10). Freshman Rebeca Pardos moved back to 23rd place (83-79=162 / +18) to round out the Blackbird scoring quartet while sophomore Emma Paschal shot a second round 88 and ended the afternoon in 31st place (87-88=175 / +31).
